For years, pre-engineered metal buildings were thought of as simple box structures for warehouses or storage. Today, that’s no longer true. With modern technology and advanced design, PEMBs are the building of choice for offices, sports arenas, churches, aviation hangars, and custom facilities of every size.
At American Steel Buildings, our engineering team combines decades of experience with MBMA standards to deliver structures that are safe, durable, and built to last.

Design & Engineering
Flexible to Fit Your Needs
American Steel buildings are tailored to your specifications. We account for every variable to ensure your building performs as intended.
Width - 20' to 200' clear span, up to 600' with interior columns
Length - 15' to 100'+
Eave Height - 10' to 60' (greater heights available on request)
Roof Slope - From 1/4:12 to 6:12 or more, with multiple pitch options available
Bay Spacing - Endwalls from 5' to 30'; sidewalls up to 40'
Clear-Span
Design
Wide open interiors with spans up to hundreds of feet, ideal for arenas, warehouses, hangars, and other large-scale facilities.
Expandable
Systems
Our buildings are engineered for long-term flexibility, making it easy to expand, reconfigure, or add onto your structure later.
Custom
Solutions
Engineered for both simple projects and more demanding builds, tailored to your specific requirements.
Code
Compliance
Designed to meet all required building codes, including MBMA and IBC standards for your project location.
Our Process
How We Engineer Your Project
Our design and engineering services ensure that your steel building meets all necessary standards. We focus on efficiency, durability, and adaptability to suit your specific needs.
Project Analysis
We work with you to define dimensions, loads, and layouts.
This first step lays the groundwork for a successful build. We review your project goals and gather key inputs like building size, layout needs, and load requirements. Whether it's snow load, wind speed, or seismic zone, we make sure every variable is accounted for before design begins.
Structural Design
Frames, panels, and accessories are engineered for a precision fit.
Using advanced software, we design every component to exact specifications. That includes the steel framing system, wall and roof panels, trim, and any accessories like doors or vents. Each part is tailored to work together smoothly and install easily once on site.
Code & Compliance Check
Verified against MBMA and local codes.
Your building is reviewed against all applicable building codes and standards. We check for compliance with the International Building Code (IBC), Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) guidelines, and any local or regional requirements. This ensures your structure is safe, up to code, and approved for use.
Drawings & Approvals
Detailed shop drawings prepared for your review.
Once the design is finalized, we prepare a full set of shop drawings. These include structural layouts, anchor bolt plans, elevations, and cross-sections that clearly show how every part fits together. You’ll have a chance to review everything and request changes before moving to fabrication.
Precision Manufacturing
Components fabricated to exact specifications for efficient erection.
With approved drawings in hand, your building components are manufactured in a controlled environment. Steel members are cut, drilled, and welded with precision so they fit together as planned. This helps reduce on-site issues and speeds up the construction process.
